About Lusaka

Laid out on a plateau in south-central Zambia, this city became the capital of Northern Rhodesia in 1935, replacing Livingstone. It remained the capital after independence in 1964 and grew around government offices, rail and road links to the Copperbelt, and migration from across the country.

THE INTERNATIONAL REVIEW

Shown in Navy Blue. Also available in Burgundy/Black and Black.

A 30-litre tennis backpack with a dedicated, padded racquet compartment.

It is built for a player who carries racquets, kit and a laptop in a single bag rather than for someone travelling with a full tour load.

Storage is divided rather than pooled. Two racquets sit protected in their own compartment on one side; two main compartments take clothing and kit on the other. Two side pockets and one zippered accessory pocket handle small items, and a separate padded compartment takes a laptop.

Abrasion-resistant recycled polyester matters where bags are set down on hard ground rather than on clubhouse benches: Lusaka’s courts are largely open-air, and the dry season leaves fine dust on every surface.

The body is made entirely from recycled polyester — exterior, canvas and lining — which gives the outer fabric its abrasion resistance.

The lining is pale rather than dark, which makes small items easier to find.

It carries by one grab handle or by two shoulder straps.

The 30-litre capacity and dedicated laptop compartment suit a player travelling to court directly from work, which is the usual pattern in a city like Lusaka where clubs sit close to the commercial centre.

LET Babolat Court Backpack Hero SHOW YOU Lusaka

Backpack: Bag: “I set the bag by the bronze man snapping the chains at his wrists, then immediately checked whether I had backup grips, backup water, and backup backups. Freedom is inspiring, but so is knowing I packed enough snacks for a small doubles tournament.”

Backpack: Bag: “The Lusaka National Museum has a wall of contemporary Zambian painting, which made me worry I should have brought a separate compartment just for cultural sensitivity and emergency granola. Luckily, this bag looks calmer than I feel.”

Backpack: Bag: “At Kabwata Cultural Village, carvers work malachite and hardwood in the open air, so naturally I wondered if I had packed enough hand wipes, spare socks, and respectful distance. Would anyone like a snack while I inventory the side pocket?”

Backpack: Bag: “The Cathedral of the Holy Cross has that long copper roof turned green above Cairo Road, and I instantly regretted not packing a tiny weather station. If the roof is prepared for oxidation, I can at least be prepared with three towels and trail mix.”
