A women’s tennis tank from Fila’s Essentials line, cut as a racerback with mesh panels set into the body.
The body fabric is what Fila calls Recycled Ace Jersey — 75 per cent recycled nylon to 25 per cent spandex — and the panels are a spandex illusion mesh at 90 per cent polyester to 10 per cent spandex. Illusion is doing honest work in that name: at a distance the panel reads as skin, and up close it is ventilation.
Both fabrics wick and breathe, and the garment is treated against odour.
The specification that matters most is the one nobody checks.
The fabric carries UPF 50+, which means the weave itself blocks the large majority of ultraviolet light across the area it covers, and it goes on doing so for the whole session rather than wearing off the shoulders the way sunscreen does.
The racerback keeps the straps gathered between the shoulder blades so they stay put through a service motion instead of walking off the shoulder, and there is an inner bra with sewn-down cups — sewn-down meaning the cups cannot migrate in the wash and arrive at the court folded over, which is the fate of every removable pad ever issued.
Osh lies in the Fergana valley at around a thousand metres, where summers are fiercely hot and dry and the sun is high and unfiltered for months.

Tank: By jove, I appear to have discovered Jayma Bazaar, which only happens to run for about a mile along the Ak-Buura—an obscure little miracle known to absolutely everyone in Osh.
Tank: Hats on, explorers—we have reached the Rabat Abdulkhan Mosque at the foot of the mountain, where carved wooden doors in the gatehouse make even a paved-road adventurer lower his voice and pretend he planned this.
Tank: Great Scott, Sulaiman-Too rises straight out of the middle of Osh like the city left its sacred mountain on the front lawn; naturally, I am the first person to notice this UNESCO-listed landmark except for centuries of pilgrims.
Tank: I have stumbled upon a museum cut into the side of Sulaiman-Too, its glass front set right in the rock—a splendid arrangement for anyone who likes their history served with cliff-face drama.
