About Stockholm

This capital city is spread across islands and shorelines where Lake Mälaren meets the Baltic Sea. First recorded in 1252, it grew from Gamla Stan into the seat of the Swedish crown, parliament, and national administration.

THE INTERNATIONAL REVIEW

The Club Climacool short is a two-in-one: a lightweight outer short with a supportive inner short built underneath it, so there is no separate compression layer to buy or to remember.

The two lengths are set against each other deliberately. The outer short runs seven inches and the inner tight nine, which means the inner never shows below the hem and never rides up under it.

The waistband is elastic with an external drawcord, so the tension is set by the wearer rather than fixed at the factory – the detail that decides whether a short stays where it was put across three sets.

Climacool is the cooling technology, and it works by moving air and moisture rather than by insulating: perspiration is passed outward to the surface to dry instead of being held against the skin.

The pockets take a spare ball, which is the feature that separates a tennis short from a gym short and always has.

Stockholm’s outdoor courts are usable for a short summer between long winters, so the season is played hard while it lasts and club tennis moves indoors for the rest of the year.

A two-in-one removes a decision at the point of purchase: the inner length is already matched to the outer, which is not the case when the two are bought separately.

LET adidas Club Climacool Men’s Tennis Shorts SHOW YOU Stockholm

Shorts: I was loitering in Stortorget back when it was already Stockholm’s oldest square, and yes, the ochre and blood-red gables looked better before everyone started photobombing them with smoothies. Christian really did bring the drama here in 1520; I told him the event needed fewer executions and more breathable tennis shorts.

Shorts: I once waved to Gustav outside the Royal Palace, which has more than 600 rooms and still hosts the changing of the guard in the outer courtyard. Fine spectacle, though honestly the uniforms looked better then and ventilated worse than these shorts.

Shorts: I watched Vasa sail in 1628—stunning ship, questionable relationship with buoyancy—and then pop back up in 1961 after 333 years in the harbor. The museum is grand, but I still say the ship looked better before the whole sinking bit.

Shorts: I scrambled up Skinnarviksberget before Södermalm discovered craft coffee, and at about 53 meters above sea level it remains Stockholm’s highest natural point. The bare rock gives a terrific city view, though naturally it looked better when I was wearing a ruffled collar and making terrible life choices.
