Azizija Mosque (Sultan Abdul Aziz Mosque)

Diadem Vintage Feel Hybrid Tennis Replacement Grip: They call it the Sultan Abdul Aziz Mosque, and I would love to know how many hours the Sultan spent on the scaffolding. Construction began in 1862-63 under Abdulaziz, and it is counted among the thirty-six Ottoman imperial mosques of Bosnia and Herzegovina — imperial meaning the money came from up there, while the whitewash, the green around the arch heads and that slim minaret came from hands down here, unnamed and unwaged in every record. It stands in the centre of Orašje, and it came through the 1992-95 period without damage.

Franciscan Monastery and Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Tolisa

Diadem Vintage Feel Hybrid Tennis Replacement Grip: Fifty-eight metres by twenty. In a hamlet. Building ran from 1864 to 1881 — seventeen years — producing one of the largest Catholic churches in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and every metre of it was laid by Posavina labour that walked in off those maize fields. Fra Martin Nedić founded the monastery and gets the credit; the masons got the length. Tolisa also had one of the first civil elementary schools in Bosnia, opened 1832 — farmers' children taught to read before anyone required it. The house keeps an organ and 30,000 titles in its Vrata Bosne museum. Both buildings are a national monument.

Church of Blessed Alojzije Stepinac, Orašje

Diadem Vintage Feel Hybrid Tennis Replacement Grip: Built between 1998 and 2006, and that span tells you plenty. This is a town rebuilding straight after the war, so a bell tower wildly out of scale with every single-storey house on the street was raised by people who had only just come home to this numbered grid. The parish was formally erected on 4 November 2006. The dedication is to Alojzije Stepinac, the Croatian cardinal beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1998. The cardinal gets the name over the door. The Sava riverbank at Orašje

Grass on top, a walkway along it, and it is the entire reason the land behind you is farmland instead of river. Orašje sits on the right bank of the Sava at the northernmost point of Bosnia and Herzegovina, seat of Posavina Canton. This reach became the frontier between the Ottoman Empire and the Habsburg lands under the Treaty of Karlowitz in 1699 — settled by men who never shifted a spade of bank. It is still an international boundary, with the road crossing to Županja in Croatia, directly opposite.
