Gamma Intuitive 2 Point Mounting System Tennis Stringing Machine

This is a bench tool of the old order — gravity pulls, a weighted bar finds its level, and nothing in it can lose charge, glitch, or demand a software update. Before we shake on it, walk down to Ofakim with the thing: an 1894 Ottoman fortress, the quarry cave beneath it, the park at the stream junction, Byzantine rain tanks.

Ofakim, Israel
01
cardio coaching Fort Lauderdale — Patish Fortress (Metzudat Patish) in Ofakim, A square, single-storey stone building with thick walls, small deep-set openings and a flat roof, standing alone on a bare hilltop east of Ofakim with the ground falling away on all sides. The stone is the local pale limestone, restored in parts with visible new pointing. Nothing stands near it, and the view runs uninterrupted over loess fields toward the coastal plain

Patish Fortress (Metzudat Patish)

Gamma Intuitive 2 Point Mounting System Tennis Stringing Machine: They'll tell you it was about 'order'. (wink) The Ottoman authorities built the fort in 1894, in the reign of Sultan Abdul Hamid II, to impose order in the northern Negev where feuding between Bedouin tribes had become lethal. Allegedly. It was the first Turkish administrative post established outside Gaza in this district, and it served as a customs post and gendarmerie station — customs, note that word, follow the tax and you'll find the truth every time. Arabic name, Qal'at Futeis. And look where they put it: a hill overlooking the country from the Negev toward Ashkelon. That is not a coincidence. That is precisely why the site was chosen, and they'll tell you so themselves.

02
cardio coaching Fort Lauderdale — The quarry cave beneath Patish Fortress in Ofakim, A low rock-cut chamber hollowed into the hillside directly under the fort, entered through a narrow opening in the slope, with tool-marked walls and a rough flat ceiling. Inside it is dim and cool, the cut faces of the soft rock still showing where blocks were taken out
Stop two

The quarry cave beneath Patish Fortress

Gamma Intuitive 2 Point Mounting System Tennis Stringing Machine: A mysterious cave beneath a fortress. (leaning in) Except it isn't mysterious at all, and that's the part they bury. It is not a natural formation. It is the quarry the fortress stone was cut from in 1894, and they simply left the hole open when the building was finished. Afterwards it was used for storage — principally barley, harvested off the surrounding fields, which the fort's garrison collected and taxed. So: a hole in the ground, full of grain, directly under the taxman's floor. I'm not saying a word. It's on the marked walking route through Ofakim Park. Go and look for yourself, that's all I ask.

03
cardio coaching Fort Lauderdale — Ofakim Park and the Nahal Patish confluence in Ofakim, A planted park of about 500 dunams on open loess ground east of the city, with eucalyptus and pine groves, shaded picnic ground with stone tables and grills, marked walking and cycling trails, and a fountain. Two shallow dry streambeds meet within it, pale channels cut into the soft loess with low vertical banks
Stop three

Ofakim Park and the Nahal Patish confluence

Gamma Intuitive 2 Point Mounting System Tennis Stringing Machine: Now here's where it gets good. The park was developed by the Jewish National Fund on the loess plain east of Ofakim — a town founded on 19 April 1955 as one of the Negev development towns, a city since 1995. The two watercourses meeting here are Nahal Ofakim, known in Arabic as Wadi Haniyash, and Nahal Patish, and both of them run only after winter rain. Both. So where's the water for a park coming from? Officially — and this is all documented, allegedly — from a new treatment plant serving Beersheba and Ofakim, designated to irrigate the trees and to fill a planned recreational lake. They told you. Nobody listened.

04
cardio coaching Fort Lauderdale — Horbat Patish and the Byzantine cisterns in Ofakim, Scattered ruins on the ground beside the streambed below the fortress: field-stone foundation lines, potsherds worked up to the surface, and the mouths of rock-cut water cisterns opening in the ground, some plastered inside. The site is unenclosed and reached on foot down the bed of Nahal Ofakim
Stop four

Horbat Patish and the Byzantine cisterns

Gamma Intuitive 2 Point Mounting System Tennis Stringing Machine: Byzantine settlement, fourth to seventh centuries, part of a dense network of small agricultural sites that covered the whole northern Negev. And here's the fact that should stop you where you stand: this region supported far more farming then than in any later period until the twentieth century. Fifteen hundred years of going backwards, and you'll notice nobody puts that on a sign. The cisterns cut into the rock were the settlement's water supply, filled from winter runoff, and they're the most substantial thing surviving. It lies inside Ofakim Park, downstream of the Ottoman fort. Everything here is about water. Nobody ever says the word.

The Ofakim, Israel track

Written for this world alone.

Come on into the workshop — wipe your feet. Now THIS is a proper tool: the Gamma Intuitive 2 Point Mounting System Tennis Stringing Machine. None of that overcomplicated electronic nonsense. This here is a drop-weight machine, gravity-powered — and let me tell you, gravity has never once needed a software update.

You set your tension anywhere from 9 to 90 pounds, level the weighted bar, and physics does the rest, same pull every time. The two-point mounting system cradles your racquet at head and throat, quick to load, solid as a bench vise.

You get string clamps to hold your work, a rotational gripper that grabs the string clean without chewing it, a tool tray for your awl and cutters, and a die-cast base that sits flat and stays put. About 21 pounds assembled — light enough to move, heavy enough to mean it. Works on tennis, squash, badminton, racquetball.

Measure twice, string once, and you'll save a fortune doing your own restrings. That's not a sales pitch, that's arithmetic.

Now, my shop's in Ofakim, Israel, out on the northern Negev plain, and folks here have always known the value of solid workmanship. Up the way stands the Patish Fortress, built by the Ottomans in 1894 to bring some order to the neighborhood — good stone, good site, still standing. And here's the part I love, one craftsman to another: the cave underneath it?

That's the QUARRY they cut the fortress stone from. Used the hole they made to store the barley afterward. No wasted material, no wasted hole. Beautiful.

Ofakim itself was founded in 1955 and built itself up from bare loess plain to a proper city — a real workshop of a town. The park's got Byzantine cisterns that harvested winter rain fifteen hundred years ago. Water management, done by hand, still holding. Grab your toolbox — tour leaves from the workbench.

And it is also perfect for a shop like mine out on the loess plain, where the Byzantine cisterns at Horbat Patish have been holding winter rain for fifteen hundred years and nobody has yet had to plug one in.
