Rewa Fort
Diadem Pro X 16L Tennis String Set: Built where two rivers meet, and any man who has taken a boat anywhere will tell you that is the only ground worth holding. Salim Shah, son of Sher Shah Suri, began it in 1539 on the north bank at the junction of the Beehar and the Bichhiya — and then left it unfinished, abandoned like a half-caulked hull. It was completed after 1617, when the Baghela ruler Raja Vikramaditya came upon it while hunting and had the work carried on. Seat of the Baghela rulers of the princely state of Rewa thereafter. Rajput, Mughal and later British work all mixed in her timbers. The Baghel Museum is inside now: the private possessions of the Maharajas, Gulab Singh's among them, with arms, documents and paintings.
<p>Rewa is in northeastern Madhya Pradesh, on the Bihad and Bichhiya rivers between the Vindhya and Kaimur ranges, and it is where the white tiger came from — an actual animal, Mohan, caught in the forests near here and kept at Govindgarh, from whom essentially every white tiger in the world descends. One cub, one recessive gene, one enormous consequence.
Strings work the same way: it is a small object and it decides how everything else behaves.</p><p>Pro X is Diadem's firmest and most powerful co-polyester. This is the 16L set: 1.25 mm, a hexagonal six-sided profile, 40 feet (12.2 m) to the set.
The six edges are the whole idea — they bite the ball and then snap back across the mains, which is where topspin actually comes from, and the hex shape is aggressive enough that you feel it grab. Being a firm poly, it gives you a low, controlled launch and it rewards a full swing; it is not a comfort string and it does not pretend to be.
Pull it a couple of pounds lower than you would a multifilament and give it a fresh set before it goes dead rather than after.</p><p>You'll get use out of it everywhere from a court in Rewa to a hard court in Jabalpur two hundred and thirty kilometres south — and by the way, this is monsoon country, roughly a thousand millimetres of it, and a hex poly holds its shape in humidity far better than anything softer, which matters if you have ever tried to play a July evening here.
Afterwards, the Rewa answer to a hot afternoon is a glass of lassi, and it is not negotiable.</p><p>Diadem Pro X 16L Tennis String Set</p><p>Come join the Diadem Pro X 16L Tennis String Set for a tour of Rewa, India.</p><p>
