Solinco Heaven Strings Tour Bite 16g Tennis String Set

This 1.30 mm poly performs from behind the screen: you never notice the strings, you only watch the ball obey. Lamps first, always. Bursa gets its whole performance before a single coin changes hands — the Grand Mosque, the Green Tomb, the silk exchange, the village.

Grand Mosque of Bursa (Ulu Cami)

Solinco Heaven Strings Tour Bite 16g Tennis String Set: Twenty domes. Twelve great piers. One vow. Bayezid I built this between 1396 and 1399, by tradition in fulfilment of a promise made before the Battle of Nicopolis — and let me ask you something: when did you last keep a promise on that scale? At the centre, a sadirvan ablution fountain splashes beneath an open oculus, so light and water come into the prayer hall itself. Nearly two hundred monumental calligraphic panels and inscriptions by generations of masters make it a museum of the calligrapher's art, and the carved walnut minbar is a masterpiece of medieval woodwork. It anchors the UNESCO-listed khans and bazaars. Promises, people. Make them big.

Green Tomb (Yesil Turbe)

Solinco Heaven Strings Tour Bite 16g Tennis String Set: Here is a man who rebuilt from the bottom. Mehmed I reunited the Ottoman state after the civil wars that followed Timur's invasion — reunited it, out of wreckage — and in 1421 his son Murad II raised this tomb for him above the Green Mosque complex. Hexagonal, standing among cypresses on the hillside, sheathed in the blue-green tiles that give it its name, largely renewed with Kutahya tiles after the earthquake of 1855. Inside, the sarcophagus is a masterpiece of Ottoman tilework beneath a mihrab of extraordinary depth and colour, by craftsmen of the Masters of Tabriz school. Ask yourself what you would rebuild if it all came down. Then begin.

Koza Han

Solinco Heaven Strings Tour Bite 16g Tennis String Set: This was built in 1491 under Sultan Bayezid II to fund his charities in Istanbul. The profits went to other people, by design — and it still became the centre of Bursa's silk trade for five centuries, the business that made this city the western terminus of the Silk Road. Sit with that model a moment. Merchants sold sacks of silkworm cocoons in this galleried courtyard, Bursa silk dressed the Ottoman court, and the annual cocoon market survived into living memory. Two arcaded storeys around a plane-shaded court, with a small octagonal mosque raised on pillars above a fountain at its centre. The vaulted shops sell silk scarves and fabrics now and tea gardens fill the courtyard, and the khans district went onto the UNESCO list in 2014. Build something that pays somebody else.

Uludag

Solinco Heaven Strings Tour Bite 16g Tennis String Set: Two thousand five hundred and forty-three metres, rising directly behind the city. This is the ancient Mysian Olympus, where Byzantine monks once kept hermitages in the crags — people who chose the hard slope deliberately. The national park climbs from lush chestnut and beech forest through pines to alpine meadows and bare summit ridges, sheltering rich wildlife and endemic plants. In winter Uludag is Turkey's most famous ski resort, its hotel zone at around 1,900 metres filling with skiers from Istanbul; in summer it takes hikers, campers and picnickers escaping the heat of the plain. The Bursa Teleferik, rebuilt in 2014, runs some nine kilometres up. You can ride it. You can also climb.

Written for this world alone.

Come behind the screen — few are invited. Out front the audience sees only shadows; back here, we know the truth: everything depends on what the light passes through. So it is with your racquet. The Solinco Tour Bite 16g set is a co-polyester cut with a four-sided square profile — four crisp edges, like a well-cut puppet of translucent hide.

When it strikes the ball, the edges grip the felt and turn it, and the ball leaves the strings spinning like Karagöz mid-argument: quick, wicked, and impossible to predict from the other side of the screen.

The craft, plainly told: gauge 16, 1.30 millimeters — the durable cut, firm and controlled, for players who perform nightly. Low power by design; the drama comes from YOUR hand, as it should — the string merely renders every gesture faithfully, with tension that holds steady through a long performance. One set, 40 feet — 12.2 meters — strings one racquet. One puppet, perfectly cut, outlasts a chest of careless ones.

My theatre is in Bursa, Turkey — the first Ottoman capital, city of silk and twenty domes, and the true home of Karagöz and Hacivat, the shadow-play rascals born, tradition insists, from two real workmen of this very city. You'll use this string everywhere from a morning hit under Uludağ's shadow to evening matches as the lamps come on.

It is also perfect for the cold months when Uludağ has snow on it and the whole city plays indoors under the lamps. Afterwards, do as Bursa does: İskender kebab, invented here, and no argument about it. Even Karagöz wouldn't dare.
