Okay so. This is the Jet Mach 4, which is the fast one, done in the Wimbledon limited edition, which means white, and put on a grass outsole, which is the part that actually matters and which everybody ignores in favour of the colour. Grass is slick. A hard-court tread on wet lawn is basically ice skating with extra steps. This has a sole cut for the surface. That is the whole reason it exists. Anyway.
The rest of it is real, I checked. The upper is Matryx Dual Layer — aramid and polyamide woven up, then reinforced with a second layer of weave, so it holds your foot without needing a bunch of plastic bolted on top.
There is a Blast Pad in the forefoot, which is high-performance foam that throws energy back at you on the first step, with reinforcements down the sides so the midsole does not fold when you push off. Insole is moulded OrthoLite HybridPlus, 50% recycled, and honestly more comfortable than the recycled thing makes it sound.
Pro Shield+ is a chunk of heavy moulded rubber over the inner forefoot and toes, because that is where everyone destroys a shoe first. Colour is White/Black. Babolat has been doing this since 1875, which is a long time to care about one thing, I mean, respect.
Michelin makes the outsole rubber.
Whatever, Lilongwe. The Kamuzu Mausoleum is a marble tomb under a dome that carries a whisper the whole way round, so you can stand at one wall and hear someone at the other, which is the single best thing I have found in any building anywhere.
It is more interesting than it sounds, which I did not expect.
The Old Town Market by the bus station has bicycle parts and live chickens in the same aisle, and the Lilongwe Wildlife Centre runs riverine forest trails through the country's only rescue sanctuary.
You will get use out of these everywhere from a grass court in the dry season here to a club lawn back home in July, and by the way, they are also perfect for a plate of nsima and relish eaten with your hands at the market, which takes a while and involves zero running, which is fine by me.
