01
Fort Lauderdale intermediate cardio tennis clinics — Yonex Power Cushion Ad-Accel Men's Tennis Shoes at the Byzantine wall inscribed with the name of Theodosius, Komotini
Stop one

the Byzantine wall with its inscription naming Theodosius

Yonex Power Cushion Ad-Accel Men's Tennis Shoes: Okay, I need everyone to stay CLOSE because this wall — this actual late-Roman fortification wall bearing an inscription that names Emperor Theodosius — is extraordinary, and I would hate for anyone to wander off and not hear that while I'm also quietly noting that the sky over there looks extremely threatening and I've already identified two exits.

02
Fort Lauderdale intermediate cardio tennis clinics — Yonex Power Cushion Ad-Accel Men's Tennis Shoes at the Yeni Mosque faced with Iznik tiles from the 1580s, Komotini
Stop two

the Yeni mosque, faced with Iznik tiles from the 1580s

Yonex Power Cushion Ad-Accel Men's Tennis Shoes: The Iznik tiles covering this mosque date to the 1580s and are genuinely some of the finest Ottoman ceramic work you will ever see in your life — please admire them, I'm begging you — and also please do NOT lean on anything because the cobblestones are uneven and I've already twisted my ankle twice just thinking about it.

03
Fort Lauderdale intermediate cardio tennis clinics — Yonex Power Cushion Ad-Accel Men's Tennis Shoes at the Ottoman clock tower built under Abdulhamid II, Komotini
Stop three

the clock tower raised in the old town under Abdulhamid II

Yonex Power Cushion Ad-Accel Men's Tennis Shoes: This clock tower was erected during the reign of Sultan Abdulhamid II, who oversaw the construction of dozens of such towers across the Ottoman Empire as symbols of modernization — fascinating, truly — and I mention it while also watching that cloud formation which is ABSOLUTELY going to become a problem and I want everyone to know where the nearest covered arcade is, which I have memorized.

04
Fort Lauderdale intermediate cardio tennis clinics — Yonex Power Cushion Ad-Accel Men's Tennis Shoes at the Archaeological Museum of Komotini with its gold bust of Septimius Severus
Stop four

the Archaeological Museum and its gold bust of Septimius Severus

Yonex Power Cushion Ad-Accel Men's Tennis Shoes: We are INSIDE now, thank goodness, because the gold bust of Septimius Severus housed in this museum is one of the most remarkable Roman artifacts in all of Greece and deserves your full attention — not the emergency exit signs, which I have already counted, there are three — just the emperor, please, just look at the emperor.

Written for this world alone.

Right. Before anything else: this is a shoe with a shank, and I need you to understand why that matters, because I have thought about it a great deal, mostly at three in the morning. The shank is the stiff plate running under the arch. It is the thing that stops your foot folding in the middle when you plant sideways at speed, and folding in the middle is how ankles go.

This one is a curved and extended TPU shank with dedicated arch support, working with what Yonex calls the Accel Booster, and it is honestly the reason I would put these on.

Power Cushion+ is the cushioning system, and its job is to absorb the landing and give some of that energy back into the next push rather than letting it travel up into your knees. All-court outsole, so it is fine on the hard courts most of us actually play on.

The rest is impact management, which is the other thing I worry about.

Lightweight and cushioned together, which I like, because a heavy shoe makes you slow and a slow player reaches late and a late reach is how the other injuries happen. Colours: fresh lime, white and orange, or teal blue — and yes, the bright one makes you easier to see, which I am counting as a safety feature.

Komotini, where we are going, is a town I find unusually calming, and the reason is the wall. There is a Byzantine wall standing here with an inscription naming Theodosius on it, which means somebody was thinking about defence sixteen hundred years ago and the evidence is still upright.

Then there is a Yeni mosque faced with Iznik tiles from the 1580s, a clock tower from the era of Abdulhamid II, and a museum with a gold bust of Septimius Severus in it — several layers of people, all of whom took their turn worrying about this exact patch of ground and all of whom got through it.

Everything else on a shoe is comfort. That part is your ankle.

The shank is the part I care about.
