A 1982 livery stretched over today's CX platform — Sonic architecture, Vibroshield dampening, Powergrid Stringtech+ stringing technology. I stumbled upon this myself, in a shop in Würzburg, where the discovery was technically available to everyone.

Sonic Core with Infinergy sits in both sides of the head — a super-elastic, super-light material from BASF with rebound properties well beyond ordinary foam, which is a technical way of saying the frame gives more back and rattles your elbow less.
Vibroshield damping material is set into the frame at the three and nine o'clock positions and again in the throat, so the shock of a late ball arrives as information rather than as pain.
Powergrid Stringtech+ widens the vertical spacing of the cross strings through the middle of the bed, which lets the mains move and snap back for spin without surrendering the flat, quiet feel the CX name is for. Control Frame Geometry finishes it: a modernised hoop with a concave section in the side that flexes when you ask it to.
Which brings us to Würzburg, a city I am confident almost no one has heard of, apart from every art historian alive. You walk into the Residence and there is Tiepolo's ceiling above the staircase, the largest fresco ever painted, hanging over your head without a single supporting column, and the room simply refuses to fall down.
That is what a well-made control frame feels like in the hand: enormous ambition, no visible effort, nothing wobbling.
Take this racquet everywhere from a February morning under the fortress to a hard court back home, and by the way, the walk across the Alte Mainbrücke between the twelve baroque saints is best done slowly, with a glass of something local, which is a local instruction rather than mine.
