Dunlop NT Max Plus 16g Tennis String Set

This crisp, coated polyester set is the club's worst-kept secret — its special coating fights tension loss so the string bed stays even long after the neighbors' racquets go soft, and yes, everyone's talking. But before you get yours, walk the tour of its hometown, Prijedor. That's where it tells you everything. And it knows everything.

Prijedor, Bosnia and Herzegovina
01
cardio tennis clinic Coral Ridge — Stari Grad, the island quarter in the Sana in Prijedor, A flat, low island in the middle of the Sana river within the town, reached by short bridges, occupied by small older houses and gardens rather than apartment blocks, with willows and poplars overhanging both channels of the green river. From the bank the island reads as a separate, quieter, lower-built piece of town, entirely surrounded by moving water

Stari Grad, the island quarter in the Sana

Dunlop NT Max Plus 16g Tennis String Set: An island in a river, and a fortress that is not there. Keep your voice down and I will tell it properly. During the reign of Sultan Mahmud I a fortress was built on this island in 1747, with a mosque raised inside it, and the settlement that grew around this crossing of the Sana became the town. The fortress itself is gone — entirely gone — but the island keeps the older street pattern, and the name: Stari Grad, the old town. So the plan of a vanished fortress is still telling people where to walk. That is the eerie part, and it is also simply, verifiably true.

02
cardio tennis clinic Coral Ridge — Church of the Holy Trinity (Saborna crkva Svete Trojice) in Prijedor, An Orthodox church just off the pedestrian main street in the town centre, with a tall bell tower over the west front and a rounded apse at the east end, rendered in pale colours with arched windows and a dark roof. It stands close in among town buildings rather than in an open churchyard, and is a short walk from the riverbank
Stop two

Church of the Holy Trinity (Saborna crkva Svete Trojice)

Dunlop NT Max Plus 16g Tennis String Set: There was a wooden church on this spot. Then there was the great Prijedor fire of 1882. Then there was not. The present building was first consecrated in 1891, in the years after Austria-Hungary took over the administration of Bosnia, when the town was being rebuilt in masonry — which is what a town does once it has watched itself burn: it stops building in wood. It remains the main Serbian Orthodox church of Prijedor. Stand close and consider that nearly everything around you here is the second version of itself. The first version is a date and some ash.

03
cardio tennis clinic Coral Ridge — The Museum of Kozara (Muzej Kozare) in Prijedor, A substantial nineteenth-century public building in the town centre, symmetrical and two-storeyed, in rendered masonry with regularly spaced tall windows, a moulded cornice and a central entrance - the plain, solid manner of Austro-Hungarian provincial public architecture. It was purpose-built as a school, and the schoolhouse proportions are still obvious
Stop three

The Museum of Kozara (Muzej Kozare)

Dunlop NT Max Plus 16g Tennis String Set: Lower your voice; we are among the stored dead. Figuratively. It is a museum, and a very good one. The building was raised as a communal school under Austro-Hungarian administration and now houses the regional museum for the Kozara area, with archaeological, ethnographic, historical and art collections and a library of more than five thousand volumes. It is the principal repository of material on the Sana valley and on the Kozara mountain that rises north-west of the town. A school that became a memory store. The children who sat in these rooms are in the collection now, in the way everyone eventually is: as records.

04
cardio tennis clinic Coral Ridge — Kula Radetića (the Radetić Tower) in Prijedor, A tall, narrow, free-standing tower-house of rendered masonry on the edge of the town centre, late nineteenth-century and neoclassical in its detailing - a plain shaft with regular windows, string courses between the floors and a simple cornice at the top. It is unoccupied and visibly neglected, which sets it apart from the maintained buildings around it
Stop four

Kula Radetića (the Radetić Tower)

Dunlop NT Max Plus 16g Tennis String Set: And now the empty one. The tower dates from the late nineteenth century, the period when Prijedor was rebuilt under Austro-Hungarian administration after the fire of 1882 and acquired most of its surviving masonry architecture. It is one of the very few private buildings of that period in Prijedor still standing in something close to its original form — and it stands empty today. No lights, no tenants, original windows watching a street that has changed around them for well over a century. I would love to tell you it is haunted. The truth is quieter, and worse: it is simply unused.

The Prijedor, Bosnia and Herzegovina track

Dunlop NT Max Plus 16g Tennis String Set

Written for this world alone.

Ohhh, you did NOT hear this from me, but come here, come here. The Dunlop NT Max Plus 16g? The string set? Everyone is talking about it. Well — I'm talking about it, which is the same thing. Here's the scoop: it's a polyester string with a special coating, and the coating — this is the juicy part — prevents tension loss. Keeps the whole string bed even for ages.

Which means while everybody ELSE's strings are quietly going soft and saggy by midseason — I won't name names, but you know exactly whose racquet I mean — this one stays crisp and consistent, restring after restring. Sixteen gauge, so it's durable too. One set, 40 feet, and honestly? The best-kept secret at the club, until I got hold of it.

And its hometown! Prijedor, Bosnia and Herzegovina — a town after my own heart, because everything here has a story and I know all of them. The whole town started on an island in the Sana River — Stari Grad, they call it — where the Ottomans built a fortress in 1747. Fortress is gone, but the old streets remember, and so do I.

Then there was the great fire of 1882 — devastating, tragic, and the single biggest renovation opportunity in town history. They rebuilt everything in masonry: the Church of the Holy Trinity, consecrated in 1891, gorgeous. The Radetić Tower too — one of the only private buildings from that era still standing in its original form, and it sits there EMPTY. Empty!

Don't get me started.

The Museum of Kozara keeps five thousand books' worth of the valley's secrets, which frankly makes it my only real competition. Come on, walk with me — the tour is where the good stuff comes out.

And do NOT tell anyone I said this, but it plays everywhere from the courts near Stari Grad to whatever they have laid down out toward the Kozara road, and it holds its tension at both — which is more than I can say for certain people. It is also perfect for a long slow afternoon in the Museum of Kozara, five thousand volumes deep, and not one of them names my sources.
