I will say up front that I generally prefer a bigger bag, and I have said so to anyone who would listen. Six racquets, two compartments, room for a spare pair of shoes. That is a proper bag. And yet — and I do concede this — I have watched people haul that thing up three flights to an indoor court and I have watched somebody with a Tour S walk past them.
So, fairly. It takes up to three racquets in a single main compartment, 30 litres of volume, measuring 76.5 by 33 by 10.5 centimetres, which is slim enough to sit upright behind a car seat rather than being wedged across the boot. Two large external accessory pockets, one on each side, and an external phone pocket that you can actually reach without stopping.
Padding through the body so the shape holds when it is half empty. Outer fabric is 75 per cent polyester and 25 per cent PU; the lining is 100 per cent polyester. Style 260236. It comes in black, blue, green, orange, pink, purple and white, and it is the model Coco Gauff carries, which I mention because somebody always asks.
Top handles plus a full backpack carry system.
Alytus is the same argument in a different form. It is not Vilnius and it will not pretend to be — smaller, quieter, fewer spires, and rather more pine forest than a capital has any business having.
But then you get to the White Rose bridge over the Nemunas, the longest pedestrian bridge in the country, and you stand in the middle of it with the river going under you and nothing else happening at all, and the capital does not have that.
You will carry this bag everywhere from a Tuesday club night to a weekend away with one frame and a change of shirt, and it is also perfect for the walk down to the river afterwards for a bowl of šaltibarščiai, which is cold, bright pink, and better than it has any right to be.
I still prefer the big one. But I would not want to carry it here.
