Cascades de Karfiguela

That part, at least, is exact.

Domes de Fabedougou
Lacoste Accent Tennis Heritage Men's Polo Shirt: The domes lie about fifteen kilometres from Banfora — about, and I dislike the word intensely, but I will not invent precision I cannot support — in the commune of Beregadougou, Comoe province. They are described as rocks with semi-spherical summits, rounded and stratified, sculpted by water and wind erosion, and the area they stand on was once covered by sea, which accounts for the sedimentary banding visible in every dome. Every dome. I did look. They belong to the same geological plateau as the Pics de Sindou, roughly forty kilometres to the west. Access to the site is managed by an agent of Faso Tourisme, with an entry fee of 500 CFA francs for nationals and 1,000 for foreigners — exactly double, cleanly stated, no rounding required of anybody — revenue that funds the site's maintenance. Thank you. That is how a figure ought to be published.

Lac Tengrela
Lacoste Accent Tennis Heritage Men's Polo Shirt: The lake measures two kilometres long by one and a half wide and lies near Banfora in what was the Cascades Region. Two by one and a half. A ratio of four to three, and I am aware nobody else in this group needed that, but I did, and now it is done. It is best known for its resident hippopotamus population, and local residents hold that these hippos do not attack people because they are sacred; crocodiles are almost never seen in the water. Almost never. I am not the man who tests a margin like that. The lake was designated a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance on 7 October 2009 under the French name Lac de Tingrela, with the Ramsar reference number 1881 — a complete date and a reference number, which is the single most beautiful thing anyone has said to me all day. Visitors cross it in pirogues poled by local boatmen, and the surrounding reed beds draw large numbers of waterbirds.

Place de la Nation, Banfora

Both are recent additions to a town whose built fabric otherwise dates from the French colonial period, and there the sequence is genuinely satisfying: a French military post established at Banfora in 1903, followed by administrative infrastructure in 1904, a road to Bobo-Dioulasso in 1905, and rail service in — 1931. Three consecutive years and then a twenty-six-year gap, which I have now checked twice and which continues to bother me. Banfora is the capital of Comoe Province and had a population of 117,452 at the 2019 census. One hundred and seventeen thousand, four hundred and fifty-two. I will not be rounding that. It is the sixth most populous city in Burkina Faso, sits 85 kilometres southwest of Bobo-Dioulasso, and its economy grew around the sugar cane industry.
