Lakha Banjara Lake

Historically it sustained the fort town founded beside it, with ghats such as Chakra Ghat serving bathing and ritual life and temples including the Vitthal and Bhagyawati shrines lining the shores. Sagar Fort
Lucky in Love Shibori Plaid Skirt: High ground above the northwestern shore, which is exactly where you want to be when the rain arrives and the lake starts rising. A stronghold is said to have been established here in the early seventeenth century by Nihal Shah, a local ruler, and the fort was rebuilt and expanded around 1660 when Udan Shah founded the settlement of Sagar beside it. In the eighteenth century the region passed to the Peshwa's Maratha administrators, under whom Sagar became an important mint and administrative town, and in 1818 the fort was ceded to the British, who garrisoned it and used it during the upheavals of 1857. In later years it housed a police training school. Its walls still dominate the lakeside skyline.

Gadpahra Fort

Gadpahra, the fort of Old Sagar, was the seat of Dangi chiefs who controlled this part of Bundelkhand before Sagar rose, and the local dynasty held power there into the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, when political weight shifted to the new lakeside town and then to Maratha administration. The hill retains fort walls, gateways and temples, including shrines that still draw pilgrims, while the abandoned settlement below reverted to village life. Clan stronghold to provincial order, visible in one skyline.

Dr. Hari Singh Gour University

The University of Saugor was established on 18 July 1946 and is among the oldest universities of central India. Its founder, Dr Hari Singh Gour, was a Sagar-born jurist, parliamentarian and reformer who helped draft constitutional law in British India and served as vice-chancellor of Delhi and Nagpur universities, and he donated nearly his entire personal fortune, about two crore rupees, to found a university in his hometown, one of the largest individual endowments in Indian educational history. The campus grew into the intellectual centre of Bundelkhand and was designated a central university in 2009. His statue and memory dominate it, celebrated annually on his birthday.
