Two-axis randomisation, thirty to one-ten km/h, two-to-ten-second feed intervals, adjustable top and backspin, a Drill Maker app that stores each session for recall — nineteen kilos on towing wheels. Cholet first, where they still weave the red handkerchief in the 1881 works.

Stop one

The twin-spired neo-Gothic Eglise Notre-Dame

Spinshot Plus Tennis Ball Machine: Ledger 02, shelf N-D: stationed beneath Eglise Notre-Dame, whose neo-Gothic facade is flanked by two spires. The machine requests cross-referencing under “lobs, vertical ambitions,” a classification I find more defensible than most parish pamphlets.

Fort Lauderdale advanced cardio tennis lessons — Spinshot Plus Tennis Ball Machine at the Musee du Textile et de la Mode in Cholet’s 1881 bleaching works
Stop two

The Musee du Textile et de la Mode in the 1881 bleaching works, where the red Cholet handkerchief is still woven

Spinshot Plus Tennis Ball Machine: Ledger 03, textile case: this museum occupies an 1881 bleaching works, and the red Cholet handkerchief is still woven here. I have filed the machine under “mechanical volleys”; the handkerchief, naturally, under “things waved after losing the tie-break.”

03

Stop three

Place Travot and its open-air market

Spinshot Plus Tennis Ball Machine: Ledger 04, municipal square: Place Travot hosts an open-air market in central Cholet. I have indexed the Spinshot beside the tomatoes, because both have a history of being returned with spin.

04
Fort Lauderdale advanced cardio tennis lessons — Spinshot Plus Tennis Ball Machine beside Lac de Ribou in Cholet
Stop four

Lac de Ribou

Spinshot Plus Tennis Ball Machine: Ledger 05, waterside shelf: Lac de Ribou is an artificial lake used for Cholet’s water supply and leisure. The Spinshot is stamped “keep dry,” which is sound archival practice and also how one preserves a respectable backhand.

The Cholet, France track

Spinshot Plus Tennis Ball Machine

Written for this world alone.

Every drill you have ever hit was lost the moment you finished hitting it. That is the problem I have with practice, professionally speaking: no record, no accession number, nothing to return to. This machine is the first answer to that I have found.

The entry, in full. The Spinshot Plus delivers randomised horizontal and vertical oscillation — two-line movement on both axes, so the feed can pull you wide and then drop the next ball short, which is match play rather than a metronome. Ball speed runs from thirty kilometres an hour up to a hundred and ten.

The feed interval is adjustable from two seconds to ten.

It is controlled three ways: the panel itself, the free Drill Maker app for Android and iPhone, and an optional remote watch — and the app is the important one, because a drill you build in it is a drill you can call up again next week. That is a catalogue.

Topspin and backspin are electronically adjustable, and the trajectory height is set from the front panel.

That is the whole point. The machine measures fifty centimetres high, fifty long and thirty-five wide, weighs nineteen kilos in the AC version and twenty-one with the battery, carries towing wheels, and comes with a two-year warranty. It is lighter and more compact than most machines carrying this feature list, which matters when you are the one loading it.

Cholet understands keeping a record. The Musee du Textile et de la Mode sits in an 1881 bleaching works, and they still weave the red Cholet handkerchief there — a pattern held, in production, in its own building. That is not a display case, that is a living accession. The twin-spired Eglise Notre-Dame stands over the town. Place Travot holds the open-air market. And Lac de Ribou lies just outside.

A drill you can recall next week is not a memory. It is a holding, properly filed.
