Wilson Blade 98 18×20 V10 Tennis Racquet

The dense one: 98 square inches, 305 g unstrung, 7 points head light, an 18×20 pattern and the Turbo Taper beam. Allegedly for control. It's for control. Isafjordur has four tarred timber houses from the 1700s standing on a spit, and a museum of accordions and dried fish. I'm not making that up.

Fort Lauderdale cardiovascular clinic — Wilson Blade 98 18x20 V10 tennis racquet at Nedstikaupstadur, the four tarred timber houses on the spit in Ísafjörður
Stop one

Nedstikaupstadur, four tarred timber houses from the 1700s out on the spit

Wilson Blade 98 18×20 V10: Now they'll tell you these four tarred timber houses from the 1700s are just a quaint little heritage site — allegedly. What they conveniently forget to mention is that they are among the oldest surviving wooden structures in all of Iceland, sitting right out on this spit where everybody could see what was coming and going. Wink wink.

02
Fort Lauderdale cardiovascular clinic — Wilson Blade 98 18x20 V10 tennis racquet at Turnhusid, the 1784 heritage museum of accordions and dried fish in Ísafjörður
Stop two

Turnhusid of 1784, now the heritage museum of accordions and dried fish

Wilson Blade 98 18×20 V10: Built in 1784 and allegedly just a museum of accordions and dried fish — sure, sure, nothing to see here, move along. But ask yourself: why does the oldest surviving building in Ísafjörður happen to hold the two things that kept sailors distracted and fed for centuries? That's not culture, friend, that's a control system. A delicious, melodic control system.

03
Fort Lauderdale cardiovascular clinic — Wilson Blade 98 18x20 V10 tennis racquet at the Culture House, a former hospital now housing the library and exhibition rooms in Ísafjörður
Stop three

the Culture House, a former hospital holding the library and exhibition rooms

Wilson Blade 98 18×20 V10: They converted the old hospital into the Culture House — library, exhibition rooms, very nice, very above-board, allegedly. But I'll just point out, and I'm merely observing here, that they took the building where people went when they were most vulnerable and filled it with books and art that tell you exactly what to think. You can look that history up yourself. I'm just asking questions.

04
Fort Lauderdale cardiovascular clinic — Wilson Blade 98 18x20 V10 tennis racquet at the Ísafjörður harbour where boats depart for the uninhabited Hornstrandir nature reserve
Stop four

the harbour where the boats leave for the empty Hornstrandir shore

Wilson Blade 98 18×20 V10: This is allegedly just a harbour where boats leave for the Hornstrandir shore — one of the most remote and depopulated coastlines in all of Europe, completely abandoned by its last permanent residents in the 1950s. Nobody out there. No roads. No authorities. I'm not saying anything. I'm just saying that if you ever needed somewhere to go, this would be where the boats leave from. Wink.

The Ísafjörður, Iceland track

Wilson Blade 98 18×20 V10 Tennis Racquet

Written for this world alone.

Now, they will tell you the 18×20 is just another string pattern. Just an option. Nothing to see here. Wink. And here is the thing — they are right, and I have checked, and I am going to tell you anyway.

Wilson Blade 98 18×20 v10: 98 square inch head, 632 square centimetres, 27 inches, 305 grams unstrung, balance 7 points head light. Eighteen mains, twenty crosses, packed tight.

What a dense bed actually does is give you less launch and less automatic spin, so the ball comes off lower and flatter and goes precisely where you sent it — and the strings last considerably longer, because there is less room for them to saw against each other. That is not marketing.

That is geometry, and geometry cannot be bought off.

The v10 adds the Turbo Taper beam, varying from 21.5 down to 20.5 millimetres, which lets you drive through the ball harder than a thin-beam control frame normally allows.

Then StableFeel+ for stability under pressure, the FORTYFIVE degree layup for the connected feel, DirectConnect running the carbon handle into the end cap so nothing twists, and Parallel Drilling for a consistent bed. Allegedly.

This is a racquet for a player who makes their own pace and wants the frame to stay out of the argument.

And now Isafjordur, where the official story is a fishing town and the real story is on the spit. Nedstikaupstadur: four tarred timber houses from the 1700s, still standing, out on a sandbar in a fjord in the north Atlantic, having survived nearly three centuries of weather that eats stone. Tarred timber. Not concrete. Somebody knew exactly what they were doing and it is written down nowhere in particular.

Turnhusid of 1784 is now the heritage museum, and its collections are accordions and dried fish, which is either the two great preoccupations of a long winter or a coded message, and you may decide for yourself. The Culture House is a former hospital now holding the library and exhibition rooms — a building for bodies, quietly converted to a building for records.

And the harbour is where the boats leave for the Hornstrandir shore, which has no roads, no permanent residents and no way out except the boat you came on. That is all I am going to say about Hornstrandir.

"Tarred timber, three centuries, north Atlantic. Somebody knew something."
