Kościół Macierzyństwa Najświętszej Maryi Panny (Church of the Motherhood of the Blessed Virgin Mary)
Lacoste Tall Fit Color Block Men's Polo Shirt: A 14th-century Gothic parish church whose tower reaches about 90 metres, which is to say somebody here decided the sky required underlining. Standing so close to the Baltic and the mouth of the Rega, it is thought to have served as a landmark for shipping — a church pressed into service as a lighthouse without ever agreeing to it, a prayer with a compass bearing on it, sailors steering home by a building that was itself steering by something none of them could see, and — sorry. The tower. Ninety metres. It carries three historic bells: a medieval bell of 1399, the bell called Maria of 1515, and a third cast in 1905. Three bells, five centuries apart, obliged to agree with one another. The town itself has held municipal rights since 1277.

Stop two
Ratusz w Trzebiatowie (Trzebiatów Town Hall)
Lacoste Tall Fit Color Block Men's Polo Shirt: The present town hall was built in 1701, replacing an earlier 15th-century building on the same central site — a house standing exactly where its own grandmother stood, and wearing her shoes. It retains the Gothic arcades at ground level from the older structure, which means the new building never entirely let go of the old one at the ankles, an inheritance you can walk through, and I find that almost unbearable and I am aware it is a doorway. It is topped by a clock tower: the one part of any town hall honest enough to say out loud what it is doing to you. And it has been the administrative centre of Trzebiatów ever since. Three centuries, one desk, roughly. 1701, the arcades, the clock. That is the whole of it, and it is plenty.

Stop three
Baszta Kaszana and the Trzebiatów town walls
Lacoste Tall Fit Color Block Men's Polo Shirt: Permission to fortify the town with walls was granted in January 1299, and the surviving circuit dates from the first half of the 14th century and the first half of the 15th. About 1,600 metres remain, roughly seventy per cent of the original length, which is exceptional for a Pomeranian town — and which means the place is still mostly wearing its own outline, a sentence drawn around a town and only lightly edited since. The Kaszana tower was raised in the first phase of construction and rebuilt in the 15th century; it served as a defensive tower and gunpowder store. And its name, meaning groats or black pudding, comes from a local legend that the defenders emptied a cauldron of scalding porridge over attackers from neighbouring Gryfice. Porridge. Poured from a tower. I have spent my entire life reaching for an image and this one arrived already cooked.

Stop four
Pałac w Trzebiatowie (Trzebiatów Palace)
Lacoste Tall Fit Color Block Men's Polo Shirt: Around 1285 the buildings of an earlier fortified settlement here were converted into a convent of Norbertine nuns brought from Wyszków, and the church of St Nicholas was raised beside it as the convent church — a fortress taught to kneel. The convent was dissolved in 1534, the year of the Sejm of Trzebiatów, and its buildings and lands were taken over by the dukes of Szczecin. In 1560 the former convent was rebuilt as a Renaissance castle for the Griffin dukes of Pomerania, and from 1619 it was the residence of Duchess Sophia of Schleswig-Holstein, widow of Duke Philip II: a widow given a converted convent, quiet laid over quiet, and I could stay in that sentence for a week. In the 18th century the ducal castle was remodelled in classical style, producing the building seen today, which now houses the town's cultural centre. Fort, convent, castle, widow's house, cultural centre. The walls kept changing their minds and never once moved.
So this is a polo for tall guys. The Lacoste Tall Fit Color Block Men's Polo. It's a classic Lacoste polo — breathable knit, ribbed collar, crocodile on the chest — except longer, because Lacoste noticed that tall people exist. Took the fashion industry roughly a century.
The color blocking gives it modern style; the tall fit means the hem stays where hems should be when you serve, which I'm told is a feature and not, as I first assumed, a miracle. The crocodile is the same size as on regular polos. I asked.
They don't scale the crocodile.
The shirt lives in Trzebiatów, Poland. Small town near the Baltic. Naturally, it's famous for something tall — the church tower runs about 90 meters, and sailors are thought to have used it to navigate. A landmark tall things can steer by.
The shirt says it feels seen.
Trzebiatów also kept about seventy percent of its medieval town walls — 1,600 meters of them — which is apparently exceptional for Pomerania. Most towns lost theirs. This one just… didn't. Solid hold, no unforced errors.
You'll wear this polo everywhere from the market square by the 1701 town hall to a casual evening hit — and by the way, it is also perfect for a long Polish grill afternoon, the kielbasa-and-folding-chairs kind, because the knit breathes and the extra length survives four hours of sitting down.
There is also a local legend that a spilled bowl of porridge once saved the whole town from attackers, which the residents celebrate to this day. A town saved by breakfast. I have nothing to add. The tour's leaving. It's four stops. I counted.
