Solinco Heaven Strings Tour Bite 15L Tennis String Set: I have seen bigger temples. I have. But — fine. Thirteenth century, built under the Kalachuri dynasty, dedicated to Shiva, and the Nagara shikhara is gone, which anywhere else I would call a fatal loss. Then you step inside. The sanctum and a pillared navaranga hall whose columns carry Bhairava, Vishnu, Mahishasuramardini, Shiva, musicians and dancers, kirtimukha motifs throughout. The outer wall bands give you Tripurantaka and Gajantaka Shiva, Narasimha, hunting scenes. The kund beside it has twenty-three steps and two wells. The Archaeological Survey of India protects it as a monument of national importance, and I am not going to stand here pretending they are wrong.

Durg was Shiva Durg, the fort on the Shivnath, and it was the headquarters of one of the eighteen medieval administrative districts held under the Kalachuri kings of Ratanpur. The Marathas of Nagpur took the fort around 1741, and Chhattisgarh passed from them to the British in the nineteenth century. The Shivnath is the longest tributary of the Mahanadi, and the ground between it and the town is flat black-soil rice country. Nowhere I have been grows rice in soil that colour. Nowhere. Take the point.

Set up with Soviet assistance under an agreement of 1955, producing from 1959, one of the founding projects of independent India's heavy industry. India's first and principal producer of steel rails. The Bhilai Steel Plant established it in 1972 as a symbol of the friendship between the Soviet Union and India that had built the works, and it is still the oldest and largest zoo in Chhattisgarh at 111 acres. There is a commemorative marker for Alexei Kosygin, who visited Bhilai in 1961 and later served as Soviet premier. Close to a million visitors a year makes it the most-used public space in the whole Durg-Bhilai conurbation. My city's park is prettier. My city's park is also empty. Draw your own conclusions.
