Stop one

the Malatya Museum on Kernek Square, its cases holding arsenic-copper swords from the Arslantepe dig

Lacoste Sport Cross Strap Tennis Sports Bra: THIS MUSEUM IS THE GREATEST PREGAME EVER—Kernek Square, ancient metalwork, and arsenic-copper swords from the Arslantepe dig like the VIP bottle service of archaeology! Somebody hydrate me and then make it a night out.

Stop two

the mound of Arslantepe, thirty metres of stacked settlement above the plain with the earliest known palace inside it

Lacoste Sport Cross Strap Tennis Sports Bra: ARSLANTEPE IS ABSOLUTELY UNHINGED IN THE BEST WAY—thirty metres of stacked settlement above the plain with the earliest known palace inside it! If history can build layers like this, we can absolutely stack one more round after tennis.

Stop three

the Roman walls of Melitene at Battalgazi, towers raised under Trajan still standing

Lacoste Sport Cross Strap Tennis Sports Bra: THESE ROMAN WALLS ARE THE GREATEST BOUNCER LINE IN TURKEY—towers at Battalgazi raised under Trajan are still standing! They survived centuries, so yes, they can survive me yelling for one celebratory drink.

the Silahtar Mustafa Pasa caravanserai, stone-vaulted halls off a seventeenth-century courtyard

Lacoste Sport Cross Strap Tennis Sports Bra: THIS CARAVANSERAI IS PEAK AFTERPARTY ARCHITECTURE—stone-vaulted halls off a seventeenth-century courtyard, are you kidding me? Park the camels, cue the playlist, and let the tour become legendary.

The Malatya, Turkey track

Lacoste Sport Cross Strap Tennis Sports Bra

Written for this world alone.

MALATYA! Everybody in — YES, you at the back, IN. Now look at this thing. The Lacoste Sport Cross Strap Tennis Sports Bra is a pull-on bra with straps that cross at the back, and that is the whole idea, and the whole idea is MAGNIFICENT. No hooks. No sliders. No little plastic ladder you fight with in a changing room with your elbows above your head.

It is not a rigged-up high-impact harness with a band you can adjust in eleven increments, and it does not pretend to be. It is a get-dressed-in-four-seconds bra, and four seconds is FOUR SECONDS I GET BACK.

You pull it on, the straps hold their own position, you go and hit.

Here is what I will actually swear to. It comes out of Lacoste's Sport line, it is cut for compression-style hold rather than moulded cups, and it is built in a moisture-moving performance knit — the tag says wicking and it means it.

The crossed back is structural, not decoration: straps that cross cannot creep off a shoulder halfway through a service motion, which is the single most annoying thing a bra can do to a person. Two colourways, and they could not be less alike — a flat Black that disappears under anything, and a Waterlily/Black/Flour that absolutely does not.

What Lacoste does not publish for this one is a numbered support rating, so I am not going to shout you a figure I invented. Try it on, jump twice, you will know.

MALATYA. The apricot capital of the entire world — the orchards on this plain supply a huge share of every dried apricot eaten anywhere, and in July the whole valley smells of it. It also bakes.

And I will tell you where it belongs.

That is why the wicking is not a slogan here: by four in the afternoon the heat comes up off the flat ground in sheets, and anything that holds sweat becomes a punishment.

You will wear this everywhere from an evening cardio session under the lights back home to the long climb round the mound at Arslantepe — and by the way, it is also perfect for sitting down afterwards with a plate of Malatya apricots and something very cold, WHICH I AM ORDERING NOW.

Four seconds to get dressed is four seconds I get back, and I intend to spend all of them.
