I should say at the start that the person who normally handles this stop is much better at it than I am, and will be back shortly. In the meantime, the wristband, which I am probably going to over-explain.
A standard wristband is a narrow ring of towelling that sits on the forearm below the joint and does one job: catches sweat before it reaches the hand. An extra-wide band is cut deep enough to run up over the wrist itself, and that changes what it does.
The distinguishing feature is in the name, and it is not decoration.
Wider fabric across a joint means light compression across the joint, which is where the support in the name comes from — not a brace, not a splint, nothing that will hold a damaged wrist together, but the mild steadying pressure that a lot of players find takes the wobble out of a long session.
And it is moisture-wicking, so the original job still gets done: the sweat is intercepted, and the grip stays dry.
It is white, which is the honest colour for something that is going to be washed constantly, and it belongs to Wilson's Bela line — the padel side of the house, named for one of the great players of that game. The kit that came out of it knows why.
