Babolat Jet Tere 2 Clay Court Women's Tennis Shoes

Scandalously insubstantial at 320g, gripping edge to edge, and do not ask how they shaved it that far. You do not get it until you have heard what it has on Zoetermeer, so walk the Dorpsstraat with it, darling; bring questions, it brings receipts.

Oude Kerk, Dorpsstraat

Babolat Jet Tere 2 Clay Court Women's Tennis Shoes: Here is a building that hedged, and hedged well. It is the oldest in Zoetermeer: a church probably stood on this spot as early as 1296, the base of the tower is fifteenth-century brickwork, and the wooden upper stage went on in 1642. Then, between 1785 and 1787, they rebuilt the body of the church entirely to the design of the Italian-born architect Jan Giudici — keeping the medieval tower, replacing everything behind it. Half the stake left on the table, half moved. That is exactly why a plain, well-mannered late eighteenth-century church stands attached to a medieval tower, and it remains a Reformed church in the old heart of the village.

Nicolaaskerk, Dorpsstraat

Babolat Jet Tere 2 Clay Court Women's Tennis Shoes: This one lost the first hand badly. A Roman Catholic church had stood at Dorpsstraat 24 since 1817, but its construction proved defective, and in 1857 it was demolished down to the foundations apart from the rear wall. Bad build, total write-off. So they went again: demolition resumed in May and June 1914, designs by the Amsterdam architect Jan Stuyt were put before the building committee, and the present church dates from 1915. And the second bet was the right one — Stuyt was among the leading Dutch Catholic church architects of his generation, with a taste for precisely this sort of domed, centrally planned form. Lose once, then hire the best man available.

Dorpsstraat

Babolat Jet Tere 2 Clay Court Women's Tennis Shoes: The one street that refused to be traded away. The Dorpsstraat took shape in the thirteenth century as the single street of the peat-cutting village of Zoetermeer, and it remains the old town's shopping and social spine. Then came the enormous play: from the 1960s Zoetermeer was designated a growth town and went from a village of a few thousand to a city of over a hundred thousand — and the Dorpsstraat was left intact. Everything around it turned over; this street held. It now runs as a strip of pre-modern building through a city otherwise built within living memory, with the Oude Kerk of 1785 and its 1642 tower and the Nicolaaskerk of 1915 defining the view.

Stadhuis-Forum Zoetermeer

Babolat Jet Tere 2 Clay Court Women's Tennis Shoes: A building that got re-dealt without ever leaving the table. The original town hall and library on the Stadhuisplein were designed in 1983 by the municipal architect Frans de Man, as part of the civic centre laid out from 1981 with parking, storage and a light-rail station at ground level and pedestrian decks above. Then it was stripped back and refaced: the old facades swapped for lightweight demountable insulated aluminium panels in a champagne colour, the interiors cleared of suspended ceilings and partitions. Demountable, note — the next hand can be played without knocking anything down. The municipal offices now share the building with the Forum, holding the Zoetermeer library and dozens of local organisations.

Babolat Jet Tere 2 Clay Court Women's Tennis Shoes

Written for this world alone.

Come closer — you did NOT hear this from me. The Babolat Jet Tere 2 Clay Court Women's Tennis Shoes are, and I have this on excellent authority, the lightest shoes Babolat has ever put out — 320 grams in a size 42.5, which is scandalously little shoe for this much engineering.

Underneath there's a full Michelin rubber outsole — yes, THAT Michelin, apparently they've been seeing Babolat for years, everyone knows — cut in a clay-specific herringbone tread that bites the surface mid-slide, releases clean on the recovery, and sheds the clay instead of carrying it home like some shoes I could mention.

The midsole is 5% thicker than the last model (she says it's natural; it's engineering), with a KPRS-X insert under the heel, a molded OrthoLite insole, Active Flexion technology flexing at nine pressure points, lateral reinforcements on both sides, and a rubber guard over the toes — because clay is rough, and somebody in this family had to say it.

The one-piece mesh upper is 100% recycled polyester, so yes, it has a past. Don't we all.

The name means 'sweet lake,' which is rich, because the history is anything but sugar. For centuries it was a sleepy butter village of a few thousand souls, and then in the 1960s The Hague — you know how The Hague is — ran out of room and simply moved in, and now it's a city of 125,000 wrapped around one little old street.

And Zoetermeer — oh, honey, Zoetermeer.

That street, the Dorpsstraat, has TWO churches within sight of each other — the old Oude Kerk and the Catholic Nicolaaskerk — and four centuries of who-sits-where that nobody has forgotten for a single minute.

Here's the part that matters for you: the Netherlands plays its tennis on clay, darling — practically every leafy club court from Zoetermeer to Den Haag — so these aren't optional, they're the season's whole storyline. Wear them to the cardio tennis clinic and you'll hear everything worth hearing at the net.

And they're also perfect for a Saturday morning on the Dorpsstraat, darling, which is where the real news gets filed — two churches within sight of each other and four centuries of who-sits-where. The tread pattern? You didn't get it from me.
