All right. Deep breath. This is the top of the men's line, which means it is fast, and fast is exactly the thing that worries me — so let me tell you what is holding you together, because I checked all of it twice.
The chassis is Dual Axis Speed Carbon, working with EndoFit midfoot support, and between them they anchor the foot laterally. That is the direction things go wrong in; nobody sprains an ankle going forwards.
There is 4D Flex Carbon, using the same FORTYFIVE technology as the racquets, allowing multidirectional movement while reinforcing lateral stability under load — meaning the harder you push into it, the more it resists.
The midsole is a new super foam in a drop-in construction borrowed from the Intrigue Tour, so it sits inside the shoe as its own unit and gives you a connected, locked-in feel rather than a cushion you float on. The upper is Gammaweave mesh, light and breathable and, I am told, durable, which I did want in writing.
Underneath, a Duralast high-abrasion rubber outsole for all surfaces. Colours from plain white through white with black, bay, evergreen, navy blazer and deja vu blue, to titanium with black and vetiver with tofu.
True to size, medium D width.
Faiyum, then, and please stay near the road. Fossil whale skeletons, in sand, at Wadi al-Hitan, and I have not stopped thinking about what that means since I found out.
There are whales in the desert here.
“Nobody sprains an ankle going forwards. Everything in this shoe is about the other direction.”
