Nike Indy Light Support Padded Tennis Sports Bra

Filed at the top rather than buried in a footnote: the support here is minimal, and it has never once claimed otherwise. Wire-free, pull-on, straps you adjust from the front, and pads that emerge from the wash still where you left them. Leon next, where an arch of 1896 waited until 1958 for its lion.

Stop one

the Catedral Basilica de Nuestra Senora de la Luz, begun by Jesuits in 1746 and consecrated in 1866

Nike Indy Light Support Padded Tennis Sports Bra: Ledger entry 1746: Jesuits begin the Catedral Basilica de Nuestra Senora de la Luz; accession note 1866: consecrated at last. I have placed the bra beside it under “Light Support,” because after 120 years the building clearly understands patience.

Stop two

the Palacio Municipal on the Plaza Principal, Ionic-columned, with murals painted by Jesus Gallardo in 1972

Nike Indy Light Support Padded Tennis Sports Bra: Cross-reference Plaza Principal, civic architecture, Ionic columns; murals by Jesús Gallardo, 1972, not to be confused with the 1911 clerk who would have filed them under “wall enthusiasm.” The bra is properly indexed here as portable order.

Stop three

the Templo Expiatorio, neo-Gothic, begun in 1920 and still unfinished

Nike Indy Light Support Padded Tennis Sports Bra: Shelf mark: Templo Expiatorio, neo-Gothic, file opened in 1920, status stamped “unfinished” so often the stamp pad deserves benefits. The bra, at least, arrives padded and ready for circulation.

Stop four

the Arco de la Calzada, a triumphal arch of 1896 with a bronze lion set on top in 1958

Nike Indy Light Support Padded Tennis Sports Bra: Accession record: triumphal arch, 1896; bronze lion installed on top, 1958. Someone probably tried to catalogue it under “large cat, elevated,” but the index has been restored and the sports bra is calm about it.

The León de Los Aldama, Mexico track

Nike Indy Light Support Padded Tennis Sports Bra

Written for this world alone.

Let me enter this correctly, because it is nearly always entered wrong. Support level: light. That is the classification and it belongs at the head of the record, not in a footnote. This is a light-support bra and it does not pretend to be a high-impact one.

If you want a garment engineered to hold everything absolutely still through repeated hard landings, that is a different accession entirely and you should go and find it. What this is, is the low-impact category, done properly.

Wire-free, so there is nothing rigid to press into the ribcage over an hour. Pull-on, so no fastening at the back to sit under a shirt.

The construction, item by item.

The straps adjust at the front, which is a small and genuinely superior piece of design — you can tighten them while wearing it, seeing what you are doing, instead of performing an act of contortion behind your own shoulder blades.

The pads are engineered to hold their position through wear and washing rather than migrating into a corner the first time they meet a machine, which is the single most common failure in this whole category and the reason so many are quietly retired after one season. There is mesh worked in for airflow.

It is a soft, stretch construction throughout — no structure fighting you, which is the point of light support.

León de Los Aldama keeps a very long file on itself and I have been through some of it. The cathedral was begun by Jesuits in 1746 and not consecrated until 1866 — a hundred and twenty years between the first entry and the closing one, which is a project outliving everybody who started it.

Then the Templo Expiatorio, begun in 1920, neo-Gothic, and still unfinished, an open record with no final line yet written. I am unreasonably fond of both.

You will wear this everywhere from a cardio session to a long warm evening, and while you are here — the Palacio Municipal on the Plaza Principal is Ionic-columned, with murals painted across it by Jesús Gallardo in 1972, and a mural is a document that cannot be moved to another shelf.

Then the Arco de la Calzada, a triumphal arch of 1896, which acquired a bronze lion on its top in 1958. Somebody added the lion later, and somebody wrote down when, and that is precisely the kind of detail that most cities lose and this one kept.

Note the sixty-two-year gap.

"Light support, stated plainly, at the top of the record. It is not a high-impact bra and has never claimed to be."
